From the 24th to the 26th October 2017, Ro Technology proudly hosted in Rome the first MegaMart2 Annual Plenary Meeting.

This meeting has been a big occasion for all the partners to have face-to-face discussions, to share ideas, refine objectives, strengthen relationships and to keep up with the project outline.

During Day 1, the different Use Cases presented an overview of the requirements, architecture and the planning for both the baseline experiments and the WP1 deliverables and tasks. Later in the afternoon MegaM@Rt2 Architecture was presented, to depict a common roadmap for Day 2 discussions.

In Day 2 we started from general issues related to the administrative aspects and PCA. Then, the meeting focused on technical aspects, such as the reached objectives, the task and deliverables status. We also defined plans for the upcoming six months, setting up a roadmap for System engineering (WP2), Runtime Analysis (WP3), Global Model and Traceability Management (WP4) and Integration, Case Study Development, Evaluation (WP5) and workshops for each WP. WP Leaders presented their Work Package. Finally, objectives for Dissemination & Exploitation activities (WP6) were discussed.
On the last day, there had been space for some wrap-up discussions and for a visit to Ro Technology Rome headquarters, with some interesting demo and presentations about the activities of the R&D team in the national and international projects.

Aside from these activities related to the project, we also had time for some social events, organized to get a taste of the Roman culture and flavors. Partners who arrived in Rome the day before the official start joined an informal dinner on Monday the 23th at Hostaria Costanza, very close to Campo De’ Fiori.

The cultural event at Case Romane on the Celio Hill

On October 24th, in the evening, we had a chance to visit the Roman Houses on the Celio Hill.
The Case Romane del Celio, located on the Clivo di Scauro between the Coliseum and the Circus Maximus, lies below the Basilica of Saints John and Paul on the slopes of the Caelian Hill. Here we discovered some hidden ancient beauties and experienced the taste of a typical Roman meal. In fact the event was held inside the archaeological site and the museum, and for this particular meeting it was exclusively available for participants.

We enjoyed a guided visit by the museum with stories and mysteries from the subterranean Caelian through the evocative setting of the Roman houses. It is one of Rome’s most enchanting and unknown site. The visit ended with a light dinner prepared strictly following the original recipes of ancient Romans. Cumin, coriander seeds, pecorino cheese, lasagna, chickpeas, prunes, honey… all of these ingredients, revised with the present style, were part of the menu of the buffet dinner.

The social dinner took place on Wednesday 25th, on the roof garden of Independent Hotel. It had been a great opportunity for all partners to celebrate the achievements of the meeting with a big toast, surrounded by Rome’ breathtaking skyline. Fortunately, the nice weather helped us: we got an opportunity to spent a nice evening amongst us on the roof, tasting some typical Italian food&wine.
